BRIEFING ON IMPLEMENTATION OF TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION SUPPORT CENTERS (TISC)

BRUNEI DARUSSALAM, February 14 – BruIPO and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) co-organized a virtual briefing on the implementation of Technology and Innovation Support Centers (TISC) to potential host organizations in Brunei Darussalam. The briefing was presented by few representatives from WIPO and allowed participants to learn about the TISC program and its potential benefits to Brunei Darussalam.

Representing UBD in the meeting was Pg. Dr. Emeroylariffion bin Pg. Abas, Director at the Office of Assistance Vice Chancellor (Innovation & Enterprise). Also attending were Dr. Annie Dayani binti Ahad Abdullah, Deputy Director OAVCIE and three other officers.

During the meeting, the WIPO representative provided an overview of the TISC program and discussed the role of potential host organization in promoting innovation and technological development in Brunei Darussalam. The roundtable discussion also gave participants the opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback on how the TISC program can be effectively implemented in the country and their respective organization.

TISCs provides significant benefits to the country's innovation and technology sector. It will provide access to patent and non-patent literature, databases, and other technical and business-related information, as well as to offer training and support services to inventors and entrepreneurs. The implementation will support the growth of local businesses, promote technology transfer, and encourage collaboration between different sectors of the innovation ecosystem. This virtual briefing and roundtable discussion marks an important step towards realizing this goal.
