DISCOVERY YEAR INCUBATION STUDENTS IN THE SHELL LIVEWIRE HACKATHON

From the 9th to 12th April 2021, out of the 10 UBD students, 7 students are from Discovery Year Incubation Program incubated under Entrepreneurship Village (EV) from Office of Assistant Vice Chancellor Innovation and Enterprise (OAVCIE) had the opportunity to participate an event organized by Shell LiveWIRE titled LiveWIRE Hackathon as part of their portfolio to become more entrepreneurial. 

The LiveWIRE Hackathon is a 3-day hackathon designed to stimulate the entrepreneurial capacity of the youth to work together and develop suitable solutions from a broader perspective focusing on 5 core areas; Agrotechnology, Waste Management, Digitalisation, Smart Manufacturing and Energy Transition. Participants were provided with mentorship sessions and training workshops to further refine and provide depth to their ideas through anticipating the participants to go by reshaping business strategies and processes to derive the value of the I.R 4.0 prospects rather than only tackling innovation.  

It is hoped that the participants are to be well-equipped with the knowledge gained from the event and produce business ideas that can lead to business opportunities worth further investment.  

The event ended successfully with Team Pitchr won in first place, Team RecOil in second place and Elctrack Team in third place in which each was awarded, in respective order, BND2,000 , BND1,500 and BND1,000. Proudly Team Pitchr and Team RecOil consisted of UBD students that have worked hand in hand with other participants in the Hackathon.
