MEETING FOR DEVELOPMENT OF A TISC NETWORK IN BRUNEI DARUSSALAM WITH BRUIPO

On August 7, members from the innovation team under the UBD Office of Assistant Vice Chancellor Innovation and Enterprise (OAVCIE) headed by Professor Dr Mohd Ayub Sadiq met with members from the Brunei Darussalam Intellectual Property Office (BruIPO) on August 7, 2023, to discuss the development of a Technology and Innovation Support Centers (TISC) network in Brunei Darussalam. The meeting took place at the Attorney General’s Chambers.

This is a follow-up meeting to the MoU agreement between UBD and BruIPO previously signed on March 7, 2023. Several TISC activities related to human capacity building in intellectual property training were discussed in this meeting. The focus on technology areas under green innovations and Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR4.0), such as digitalization and AI, was highlighted. The outcome of this meeting is strongly aligned with UN SDG 9 on building resilient infrastructure, promoting inclusive and sustainable industrialization, and fostering innovation.

In attendance from BruIPO include the Head of BruIPO, Puan Norazizah Ja’afar, Head of Patent & Industrial Designs Registries, Puan Shahryenawaty Shahri, Dk Adibah Rosli, Mr Khaliq Gani, and Mr Wong Wee Li. This is the first meeting outside UBD for the newly appointed deputy director (innovation), Dr Lim Ren Chong. The remaining members from the innovation team are Ms Fifi Faulina @ Nuur Fadhlin binti Hj Zailani and Mr Abdul Hanif Morsidi.
