Online Industry Engagement Meeting With EVYD Technology

Discussions on potential collaboration efforts between the Office of Assistant Vice Chancellor Innovation and Enterprise (OAVCIE), Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), and EVYD Tech, was held on the 4th November 2021. Due to the restrictions on social gatherings during the second wave of the Covid-19 in Brunei, the meeting was held online, via Microsoft Teams. Leading the meeting on behalf of OAVCIE was Prof Dr Mohammad Ayub Sadiq (Assistant Vice-Chancellor Innovation & Enterprise), who was joined by staff members from UBD’s PAPRSB Institute of Health Sciences, UBD’s School of Digital Science as well as the Office of Assistant Vice Chancellor (Innovation and Enterprise). Joining EVYD Tech were its CEO, Mr Chua Ming Jie, and officers from the company.

UBD and EVYD Tech had the chance to share some of the possibilities of collaboration especially in the area of Public Health and Digital Science through research and education. Where both parties were interested in developing a knowledge hub aiming to encourage collaboration, research in the areas of public health in the region. The focus was also made on having an industry-relevant type of course for students which could offer opportunities for students to be industry-ready.

EVYD Tech is known for its development of a data-driven epidemic response platform for the Brunei government at the onset of COVID-19 which has since expanded from COVID-19 related solutions to include public health surveillance, digital health services, and population health solutions as well as the establishment of a big data and research platform. EVYD Tech has introduced the Bru Health app in May 2020 which today is an all-in-one healthcare management app with the launch of additional features such as online appointment, consultation, health records, and health plans which enables the Brunei government to leverage the health data securely and efficiently in policy and decision makings in public health.
