On 12th November 2022, Brunei Intellectual Property Office (BruIPO) again accepted our invitation to lecture in the module GE-2405, Intellectual Property Rights, for semester 1, the academic year 2022/23. The talk titled, ‘Know Your IP Rights’ were given by Puan Siti Shahryenawaty Binti Hj Mohd Shahri, a legal counsel and deputy registrar under the Brunei Intellectual Property Office Division, Attorney General’s Chambers, Brunei Darussalam. She briefly introduced BruIPO’s responsibility to register IP in Brunei Darussalam.  She explained five categories of intellectual property rights (IPR), namely Copyrights, Trademarks, Patents, Plant Varieties and Industrial Designs, with examples, the registration processes and some IPR issues in the country.  Activities such as quizzes and questions-and-answers sessions were conducted with the speaker's colleagues from BruIPO. The lecture should give students a better understanding of the roles and contributions and the IP protection process in Brunei Darussalam.

This semester, 49 students have enrolled in this module and taught by Hasnah Haji Hassan, Hajah Masriatol Zuraifah Binti Haji Sajali and Dr Lim Ren Chong.
