OAVCIE & FRED went for virtual training by Putra Science Park, Universiti Putra Malaysia

On 31st March 2022, OAVCIE and FRED attended virtual training titled Intellectual Property Awareness and Commercialisation Strategy by Putra Science Park (PSP), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).
The speakers were Associate Professor Dr Zahira bte Mohd Ishan, Deputy Director Intellectual Property Division, and Associate Professor Dr Wan Nurhayati bte Wan Ab. Rahman, Deputy Director Innovation Promotion and Commercialisation Division.
The training covered 4 modules titled: Awareness of Intellectual Property Protection towards Commercialisation, Challenges and Venture of Commercialisation, Commercialisation Landscape and Technology Readiness Level (TRL), and Incubation/Startup Company.
Twenty (20) staff from OAVCIE and FRED attended the training for the whole day. The training provides an understanding of the hurdles that may be faced as UBD moves toward the commercialisation of its IPR, as well as the development of start-ups to assist in the commercialisation strategy.
UPM is one of the universities in Malaysia with a successful track record in the commercialisation of its IPRs, particularly, through the establishment of university startups.
