UBD EXPLORING COLLABORATIONS WITH BRUNEI INNOVATION LAB TO ADVANCE PATENT MATTERS

Thursday 11 January 2024 – Office of Assistant Vice Chancellor (Innovation and Enterprise) paid a courtesy visit to Brunei Innovation Lab to engage in discussions with the General Manager of BIL, Tuan Freddie Ting who was accompanied by his dynamic team. The visit aimed at exploring potential collaborations and fostering a stronger partnership between the two parties focusing on patent matters including patent development and commercialization, and access to intellectual property rights.

The one-hour discussion centered on potential joint initiatives which could leverage the strengths and expertise of both parties, aiming to streamline processes related to patent applications, facilitate technology transfer, and encourage a culture of innovation amongst students and researchers as well as to identify market opportunities, supporting startups, and ensuring the successful of patented technologies.

UBD team was led by the Assistant Vice Chancellor (Innovation and Enterprise), Professor Dr Mohd Ayub Sadiq @ Lin Naing who was accompanied by the Deputy Director (Innovation), Dr Ren Chong Lim. The meeting concluded with a tour and group photo.

Brunei Innovation Lab, established in 2022, is dedicated to fostering innovation, supporting startups, and driving technological advancements in Brunei Darussalam. The Lab provides a platform for collaboration, mentorship, and resources to empower individuals and organisations to turn innovative ideas into successful ventures.
