VISIT FROM BEDB

Tuesday 16 January 2024 – A joint discussion between Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) and Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB), which was held at UBD, underscores the potential for collaborative efforts in priority areas.

One of the key points of the discussion revolves around the opportunities for harnessing the potential and talents of graduating students and UBD alumni, particularly those specialized in areas such as data analytics, animation and design, to name a few. The focus on the talent pool is to create pathways for the gradual recruitment for employment by an overseas company linked to BEDB. These initiatives are in line with UN SDG 4 and 8, that is promoting quality education and promoting decent work and economic growth.

Internship opportunities were also highlighted, emphasizing the importance of hands-on experience for UBD students to become industry-ready. Such internships will serve as a bridge between academic learning and practical industry applications offering valuable insights and skills enhancement. The potential of collaborative effort in research and development was also discussed.

BEDB was represented by Tuan Derick Chua, Lead of ICT and Green Tech, FDI Action & Support Centre (F.A.S.T). Hosting the meeting was the Office of Assistant Vice Chancellor (Innovation and Enterprise) led by Professor Dr Mohd Ayub Sadiq @ Lin Naing, the Assistant Vice Chancellor (Innovation and Enterprise).  Also in attendance were the Deputy Director (Innovation), Dr Lim Ren Chong and the Deputy Director (Enterprise), Dr Annie Dayani binti Haji Ahad, and the Assistant Registrar OAVCIE.

The meeting yielded intentions and strong interests to pursue further engagement to strategise plans for collaborative projects in the future.
