VISIT TO DARUSSALAM ENTERPRISE

Tuesday 12 November 2023 – A meeting between UBD and Darussalam Enterprise (DARe) took place to deepen discussions that revolve around fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in UBD to contribute to the development of a robust innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystem. UBD was represented by the Office of Assistant Vice Chancellor (Innovation and Enterprise) which was led by Yang Mulia Prof Dr Mohd Ayub Sadiq @ Lin Naing, Assistant Vice Chancellor (Innovation and Enterprise) who came with his team to meet the Acting Chief Executive Officer of Brunei Economic Development Board and Darussalam Enterprise (DARe), Yang Mulia Tuan Daniel Leong who was accompanied by his dynamic team.

Key focus areas discussed include the exploration of students’ internship and apprenticeship which aims to provide students with real-world insights and mentorship to transform their research and innovation into tangible products and services, and matters on Intellectual Property (IP) commercialization.

Also highlighted in the one-hour meeting was the tentative joint activities to be held in the upcoming year 2024. The main aim of the events to be co-organised by UBD and DARe is to further promote entrepreneurship growth and business development in UBD.

Darussalam Enterprise (DARe) is a government-link company in Brunei Darussalam established in 2016 to play a pivotal role in driving economic diversification and promoting entreneurship. DARe facilitates the development of a vibrant and sustainable business ecosystem by providing support, resources, and guidance to entrepreneurs and businesses at various stages of their journey. Over the years, the strong relationship between UBD and DARe has been characterized by collaborative efforts at nurturing a culture of entrepreneurship amongst students, faculty and the wider community through various initiatives and programmes.
